Permanent Way Team Delivers at Port of Tyne ()

Infrasafe recently completed a key project for Port of Tyne carrying out track repairs and renewals work on a major level crossing.

The project involved lifting and re-packing rail crossings and it allowed us to demonstrate that although safety critical staffing remains our core business, we have the personnel, skills and expertise to provide a professional permanent way team including senior track handback engineers. We were also tasked with traffic management duties and the removal and reinstatement of concrete edge retention beams which brought on board our construction management team.

The project was carried out over 2 weekend possessions (competing with Great North Run pandemonium on the 2nd weekend) and met the Port’s tight timescales. The work has allowed the Port to move forward with key dates for its £16 million investment in its new biomass handling facility in South Shields to unload and cargo 75,000 tonnes of biomass - a major boost for the region. The line repair and renewal work was critical to the Port's transport strategy.
